Who must apply for Extension of Stay?


You may apply for an extension of stay if you fall into any of the below mentioned non-immigrant categories:  
* Ambassadors, public ministers, or career diplomatic or consular officers and their immediate family members 
* B-1 Visitors for business  
* B-2 Visitors for pleasure  
* Dependents of an E-1 Treaty Trader, E-2 Treaty Investor, or E-3 Australian specialty occupation worker  
* Academic students   +Designated principal resident representatives of foreign governments and their immediate family members 
* Dependents of a temporary worker in H status  
* J-1 exchange visitors  
* Dependents of an intracompany transferee in L status 
* Vocational or non-academic students  +Dependents of artists, athletes and entertainers in P status 
* Dependents of religious workers in R status  +Dependents of workers in TN status 
* Spouses and children of lawful permanent residents in V status
